The Transport Operations (Road Use Management - Fatigue Management) regulation 1998, implementing the National Driving Hours Policy, was introduced in Queensland on 30th October 1998.
The National Log Book was introduced in Qld on 3rd August 1998 as part of Queensland's implementation of the National Driving Hours Policy.
The National Regulation and Log Book make it easier for drivers to comply with the Driving Hours Regulation and bring consistency to the management of driver fatigue in regulated jurisdictions.
All drivers of commercial buses with a carrying capacity of 12 or more people (including driver), and drivers of heavy vehicles weighing more that 12 tonnes are required to comply with the Fatigue Management Regulation and use a Log Book.
The change from the National Log Book System to the National Fatigue Management Regulation identifies the CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY and places strict obligations on others within the transport industry.
This system allows the driver to say NO, and maps your working day, bringing self management skills into your workplace - ie YOUR TRUCK.
It also allows the driver, by applying the fatigue management skills, to drive for 14 hours per day instead of 12.
