DESCRIPTION
This program is designed to provide drivers with the skills and knowledge necessary to plan a load, then load and restrain a load legally. The course is aligned to The Load Restraint Guide which is the National Standard applied by all authorities.
THEORY TRAINING COVERS:
What forces act on freight and how these forces are countered by appropriate restraint.
How to identify load characteristics and distribute load correctly on vehicle.
Effectiveness of Gates and Curtains/Tarps.
Use of blocking, load mats and dunnage.
Differences between containment of load, direct attachment of loads and lashing.
Accessing LRG to calculate appropriate numbers, types and styles of restraint.
Legislation and Standards.
OH&S issues and COR (Chain of Responsibility) issues.
Practical training covers:
Selection and tying of ropes.
Selection and use of webbing (Straps)
Selection and use of Chain, Dogs/Ratchets and cheater bars.
Handling and securing of gates, Curtains and Tarps (If applicable).
TARGET POPULATION:
Professional and trainee truck drivers, warehouse staff etc.
COURSE DATES & TIMES:
SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION or are run by mutual arrangement.
COURSE DURATION:
The course runs for approximately 4-5 hours and includes training and assessment.
OUTCOME:
Trainees will receive two competencies from the TLI (Transport and Logistics) Training Package:
TLID407C Load and Unload Goods/Cargo and TLIA107C Secure Cargo
Each trainee also receives a handy Credit Card style card with qualification information.
Each trainee receives a copy of the Load Restraint Guide

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
* Be able to read and write Basic English (Workplace Health & Safety
Requirement).
* Minimum of 16 years of age (Workplace Health & Safety Requirement).
* Please arrive in work clothes and enclosed work boots, a pen would be good
also.
