Our five day dump truck course will equip you with the practical skills, knowledge and experience you need to operate a dump truck or haul truck on-site. A dump truck course is a great choice for anyone looking to get into the mining, civil or heavy constuction industries.
Learn how to operate the dump trucks in our quarry site located just south of our Yatala office. This will be done by using quarry haul roads, loading in designated loading areas and in conjuction with mining machinery. This is great way to gain experience.

DUMP TRUCK COURSE CONTENT
Delivery: students are issued with a Pre Course Exercise book prior to the course starting which is equivalent to a day’s theory training. Students will be asked to spend time going through the exercise book prior to commencing their course. Students are supplied with an additional workbook and activities to complete. There is a written test and practical tasks to complete. Practical training will be conducted in our newly acquired simulator as well as off site in a Working Quarry / Mining Operation. This will ensure that your course gives you a REAL feel of working in the industry. Students are given a hardcopy printout from the simulator of their driving abilities at commencement and completion of the course.
If the practical operation time is affected by weather, additional time will be made available to students allowing them to complete the driving section*.
The course structure and elements to be covered are:
- Plan and prepare
- Conduct machine preoperational checks
- Operate truck
- Load, transport and tip materials
- Carry out driver maintenance
- Clean up
This unit covers conducting haul truck operations in the resources and infrastructure industries. It includes planning and preparing for operations, operating haul truck, loading, hauling and dumping materials and carrying out post operational procedures. You will be operating Articulated and Rigid dump/haul trucks such as TYREX TA30, Volvo A25C 25ton, 769 D & E Caterpillars 40 ton and HD 465 60 ton Komatsu.
UNIT OF COMPETENCY:
RIIMPO311A – Conduct Haul Truck Operations (Dump Truck)
This unit covers conducting haul truck operations in the resources and infrastructure industries. It includes planning and preparing for operations, operating haul trucks/dump trucks, loading hauling and dumping materials and carrying out post operational procedures.
Pre-requisites: You will need to hold a Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
Major Training Group offer training in White Card and Generic Mining Inductions.
DUMP TRUCK COURSE DATES & TIMES:
Dump Truck courses start every Monday. Times are from 6.00am to 4.00pm each day and more courses can be scheduled based on demand. Call us to book into the next available course!
DUMP TRUCK COURSE DURATION:
The Dump Truck course is competency-based. Some participants may, however, require more time, there are no additional fees or discounts on the course fees should this occur.
Our five (5) day course caters to groups of 8-10 students on our fully functioning quarry training site.

DUMP TRUCK COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to read and write Basic English (Workplace Health & Safety Requirement).
- Minimum of 18 years of age (Workplace Health & Safety Requirement).
- Provide two forms of identification.
- Wear steel cap safety boots or work boots each day of the course.
- Hold a White Card
