Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Major understands that not all learning is conducted in a formal environment. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that allows the competencies and skills you already have to be recognised, regardless of how you obtained them. These might include skills you picked up on the job or from other life experience that do not necessarily include formal training.

Recognition of Prior Learning suits people who have industry relevant:

• Work skills or knowledge
• Paid or unpaid work experience
• Life experience

RPL could provide you with a full or part qualification, and avoid duplication of training. It could be used to identify what training you may need to complete a qualification, or could provide a pathway to higher qualifications. In the majority of cases, RPL will qualify you for the off-the-job component of the course or unit, and you may still need to complete the on-the-job component to be assessed at work or in our simulated worksite. Cost and duration will depend on the evidence of learning received.
